                                            Interesting & Odd Bible Verses:

Compiled by Karl R. Studenroth Jr.

Q&C = My personal Questions & Comments

                                                    Interesting Verses:

As Gods & Eternal Life:

Genesis 3:5:For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Q&C: What does it mean, "we shall be as Gods"?

Genesis 3:22:And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one ofus”, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever.

Q&C: Who is “us”?

Genesis 11:7: Go to, let us go down and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.

Q&C: Who is “us”?  Why would God want to confound their language?

John 6:68:Then Simon Peter answered Him, Lord, to whom shall we go?  Thou hast the words of eternal life.

Baptism (2nd baptism by fire!):

Matthew 3:11I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but He that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.

Luke 3:16:John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier Than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worth to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.

Wisdom & Knowledge:

Ecclesiastes 1:18: For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

Ecclesiastes 2:21:For there is a man whose labour is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he leave it for his portion.  This also is vanity and a great evil.

Ecclesiastes 2:26: For God giveth to a man that is good in His sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God.  This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

Creation and the Question of light?

Jeremiah 4:23: I beheld the earth, and lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

Genesis 1:1:In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.  1:2: And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.  And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.  1:3: And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.  1:4: And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.  1:5: And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.  And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Genesis 1:14: And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and for years:  1:15: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.  1:16: And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: He made the stars also.  1:17: And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,  1:18: And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.  1:19: And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Q&C: If God created light on the first day, and He didn’t create the sun and stars until the fourth day – where did the light come from during the first three days?

Jacob's Ladder:

Genesis 28:10-22

King James Version (KJV)

10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.

11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

13 And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.

17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

Q&C: This is one of the most bizarre stories in the Bible!  Why would an omnipotent God need a ladder for His angels to come and go from Heaven?  Is this story a metaphor, or was there indeed some sort of real ladder or system for the angels to move from the sky to the earth?  If so, where in the sky were the angels coming from?  A spaceship?  A different dimension?  Or was all this just some sort of crazy dream after Jacob had been chewing on some funny weed the day before?!!!

End Times:

II Peter 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Luke 12:49: I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?  50: But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straightened till it be accomplished!  51: Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth?  I tell you, Nay; but rather division.

I Corinthians 3:13: Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 15: If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.  27:Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
